Important Considerations Many Hydraulic Reservoir Manufacturers Don’t Even Know:
- A hydraulic tank has to provide a large surface area to transfer heat from the fluid to the air
- Large enough to allow returning fluid to slow down as it enters the reservoir to let contaminants settle and entrained air escape
- It must have a baffle to separate fluid entering the reservoir from fluid entering the suction line
- Allow for air space above the fluid to accept bubbles that float to the surface
- Easy access to remove old fluid and contaminants and to add new fluid
- Every hydraulic tank must be properly sized to allow for hot-fluid expansion, gravity drain-back during system shutdown, and storage of large enough volume to supply during intermittent peak periods of operating cycles
