Before any MetalTanks fuel tank or hydraulic reservoir leaves our shop, it goes through a straightforward but highly effective pressure‑test. It’s not fancy — it’s reliable. And it’s the same method used by heavy‑equipment manufacturers in the USA and Canada.

Here’s how we do it.

1. Weld Inspection First

Every tank gets a quick visual check of all welds and seams. We look for:

• Weld consistency
• Corner and seam uniformity
• Any visible imperfections

Our weld quality is extremely consistent — in all the miles of welds we’ve produced, we’ve detected only a minuscule amount of defects.

If anything looks off, it gets corrected before testing.

2. Pressure Is Applied

We seal the tank with test caps and introduce air pressure. The pressure is set to a level that quickly exposes any weak points, right down to pinholes.

The goal is simple: stress the tank enough to reveal leaks.

3. The Soapy Water Test

This is the heart of the process.

A technician brushes on a soapy solution over all welds, seams, fittings, and corners. If there’s a leak, even a tiny one, it shows up immediately as bubbles.

This method catches:

• Pinholes
• Porosity
• Micro‑cracks
• Imperfect weld starts/stops

It’s fast, accurate, and brutally honest.

4. Fix, Retest, Approve

If bubbles appear, the tank goes back for correction. Then it’s tested again — same pressure, same soap, same technician.

Only tanks that show zero bubbles move on to powder coating, finishing, and packaging.
