Before any MetalTanks fuel tank or hydraulic reservoir leaves our shop, it goes through a straightforward but highly effective pressure‑test. It’s not fancy — it’s reliable. And it’s the same method used by heavy‑equipment manufacturers in the USA and Canada.
Here’s how we do it.
Every tank gets a quick visual check of all welds and seams. We look for:
Our weld quality is extremely consistent — in all the miles of welds we’ve produced, we’ve detected only a minuscule amount of defects.
If anything looks off, it gets corrected before testing.
We seal the tank with test caps and introduce air pressure. The pressure is set to a level that quickly exposes any weak points, right down to pinholes.
The goal is simple: stress the tank enough to reveal leaks.
This is the heart of the process.
A technician brushes on a soapy solution over all welds, seams, fittings, and corners. If there’s a leak, even a tiny one, it shows up immediately as bubbles.

If bubbles appear, the tank goes back for correction. Then it’s tested again — same pressure, same soap, same technician.
