The cost to manufacture a hydraulic fluid reservoir tank can be significantly reduced when important components are omitted and steps in the quality process are skipped.  Unfortunately, until you start pumping oil into that hydraulic fluid reservoir, you won’t even know you have a problem.

All hydraulic oil tanks look very similar from the outside.  What is most important is what’s inside and how they’re constructed.  (It’s what may be missing inside that matters most.)  This is what you need to ask:

Is Vortex Suppression Included In Your Hydraulic Fluid Reservoirs?

Suction at the pump inlet of every hydraulic fluid reservoir tank creates rapid swirling action similar to water draining down a sink.   That vortex sucks unwanted air into the hydraulic fluid.  That’s a big problem.  Don’t ever assume anti-vortex comes standard with every hydraulic fluid reservoir.  If it doesn’t include it, don’t buy it, regardless of price.

Do Your Hydraulic Fluid Reservoir Tanks Include Diffusers?

Some hydraulic oil tank manufacturers think they can get away with leaving them out.    Ours are not optional because diffusers provide three important benefits:

• They improve cooling by disbursing heat that accumulates in hydraulic oil tanks
• They help prevent impurities from reentering the system
• They help separate entrained air from the fluid

Diffusers should be included in each hydraulic fluid reservoir – no exceptions.

Do You Leak Test Every Tank You Build?

We’ve heard anecdotes about hydraulic oil tank manufacturers shipping new tanks that leaked at the weld on the first day of use.  Huge cost and frustration can result from just one pinhole.  Ignoring the leak test may get the tank built faster and cheaper but at your expense.  We pressure test each and every hydraulic fluid reservoir before it leaves the factory because we want you as a satisfied, repeat customer.
