Hydraulic Parts Manufacturers Can Cut Corners In Way’s You’ll Never Know – Learn More
A hydraulic oil tank can be built more cheaply if you exclude important components and skip steps in the quality process. The worst frustration is that you’ll never know until the missing hydraulic parts begin to cause strange problems. Whether you’re building or repairing a system for a customer or for yourself here are some things you’ll want to know before buying a hydraulic oil tank.
From the outside hydraulic tanks look very much alike. What matters is how they’re built and what’s included or missing on the inside. Here are three important questions to ask:
Does It Include The Hydraulic Parts That Provide Vortex Suppression?
At the pump inlet of every hydraulic oil tank, the suction creates a strong swirling action similar to water draining in a bath tub. This vortex injects unwanted air into the hydraulic fluid. You know that is huge problem. Don’t presume anti-vortex is standard with all hydraulic tanks. If it doesn’t include it, walk away.
Do Your Hydraulic Oil Tanks Include Diffusers?
Some manufacturers of hydraulic systems don’t include them in their tanks if they believe they can get away with it. Diffusers perform three very important functions:
- By distributing the heat that builds up in the hydraulic oil tank they Improve cooling
- They separate entrained air from the fluid
- They help to prevent contaminating particles from reentering the hydraulic system
Diffusers should be included in all hydraulic tanks – no exceptions!
How Do You Guarantee Your Tanks Don’t Leak?
We’ve heard actual horror stories about hydraulic systems delivered with new tanks that leaked at the weld. It only takes a small pinhole to create huge cost and frustration from the minute they’re installed. If the manufacturer had taken a few minutes to pressure test every hydraulic oil tank they build as we do, the problem could have been resolved before it left the factory. They value profit over reputation and good workmanship. We want you to come back as a repeat customer so we pressure test each tank.
