Building Peterbilt Hydraulic Tanks Since 1995

If you need a Peterbilt hydraulic tank we can build it for you.  You also have the option of ordering Peterbilt combination fuel and hydraulic tanks if that configuration is better for you.  On many occasions we’ve been asked to build hydraulic step tanks for Peterbilt 379 and other models.

We also do something that you may not expect in today’s day and age – we’ll help you with a custom design at no extra charge.

Before you decide on a custom tank, have a look at our hydraulic tank catalog to see if one of our standard hydraulic tanks will do the trick.  All the hydraulic tanks for Peterbilt that we build come with the material choice of steel, stainless and aluminum.

Important Things To Consider For Your Peterbilt Hydraulic Tank:

  • Whether it’s a split tank or individual, your hydraulic tank has to be large enough to allow returning fluid to slow down as it enters. This allows entrained air to rise to the surface and contaminants to settle to the bottom
  • There must be ample air space above the fluid to accept bubbles that float to the surface
  • It’s important to have a baffle that separates fluid entering the reservoir from that which is being drawn into the suction line
  • A hydraulic tank must have a large enough surface area to transfer heat from the fluid to the air
  • An aluminum tank transfers heat faster than steel
  • It should offer easy access to add new fluid and remove old fluid and contaminants
  • Every hydraulic reservoir must be properly sized to allow for hot-fluid expansion, gravity drain-back during system shutdown, and storage for enough volume to supply during occasional peak periods of operating cycles

Whether you’re considering a Peterbilt combination fuel and hydraulic tank or a standalone hydraulic tank, these are important factors to consider.  Some tank builders may not even aware of them.  Our OEM design team is ready to help you with creative solutions for your hydraulic tank design.
