Important Note About Truck Fuel Tank Straps
If you are about to replace a fuel tank or fuel tank straps, be sure to check the condition of the neoprene channel rubber. If it is worn, you would be wise to replace it. It is one of the fuel tank accessories that has little cost but high value. It prevents the fuel tank strap from rubbing against the tank and wearing away the protective coating.
Another consideration if you are replacing a fuel tank that has been damaged in a collision is the functionality of the sending unit.
Sending units can be damaged by impact. Have your sending unit tested and if necessary order a replacement along with your tank and any other fuel tank accessories. While we’re on that subject, you might want to go ahead and add a locking fuel cap to your order to prevent vandalism and theft.
