How Do You Measure Quality Of Fabricated Metal Products Like Steel, Aluminum Or Stainless Steel Tanks?
The biggest problem many tank builders have is a poor quality control system. Many of today’s fabricated metal products are built using Statistical Process Control to monitor quality. SPC is used to check production samples to calculate the expected percentage and stay within “acceptable” limits. At Propower our only acceptable limit is zero defects.
Stainless steel tanks, and every liquid carrying vessel for that matter, must have welds with perfect integrity. This can only be guaranteed by leak testing every single tank – not just random samples. We are probably one of the few tank builders in the industry still doing it this way. It takes more time and we believe it’s time well spent.
